OSTEOPATHIC BOARD CERTIFICATION

The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), the ACOFP Foundation and the Auxiliary to the ACOFP recognized 2025 award winners at the ACOFP 62nd Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars, April 2-6, 2025, in Palm Springs, California. ACOFP’s awards program honors in-practice physicians, residents and students who make exemplary contributions to the field of osteopathic medicine.

ACOFP award recipients included:

  • Osteopathic Family Physician of the Year Award: Gregory James, DO, MPH, CMD, FACOFP-dist.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Kenneth A Heiles, DO, FACOFP-dist.
Gregory James, DO, MPH, CMD, FACOFP-dist.

Gregory James, DO, MPH, CMD, FACOFP-dist., is a Senior Medical Director with Optum, Senior Community Care (SCC). Dr. James is the Immediate Past Chairman of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP). He has been awarded the Osteopathic Family Physician of the Year Award by the American College of Family Physicians (ACOFP). This award is presented to a member who exemplifies what the ACOFP believes an osteopathic family physician should be. The award honors physicians who have made outstanding contributions to the osteopathic profession and local communities, while being a role model to peers and students.

Kenneth A. Heiles, DO, FACOP-dist.

Kenneth A. Heiles, DO, FACOP-dist., is the campus dean of Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM) in Joplin, Missouri. Dr. Heiles is the Vice Chairman of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. He has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP). This honor recognizes individuals whose career-long service has significantly impacted osteopathic family medicine, their patients and the profession.


Jesse Shaw, DO

The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) Conclave of Fellows honored thirteen physicians with the designation of Fellow of the ACOFP and three with the designation of Distinguished Fellow of the ACOFP during its 62nd Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars in Palm Springs, California.

The designation of Fellow is bestowed upon candidates who have contributed outstanding national and local service through teaching, authorship, research or professional leadership. Additionally, these individuals have demonstrated a commitment to the health and welfare of their patients and to the future of osteopathic family medicine. The 2025 class of the ACOFP Conclave of Fellows includes AOBFP Director, Jesse Shaw, DO.
