OSTEOPATHIC BOARD CERTIFICATION

Help shape the future of family medicine & geriatric medicine

June 20, 2024

AOBFP is seeking passionate and knowledgeable professionals to join our team of volunteer subject matter experts (SMEs) in writing exam items (examination questions) for our Family Medicine and Geriatric Medicine certification exams. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the high standards of our field and ensure the excellence of our certification process.

As an SME, you will play a crucial role in developing questions that accurately assess the knowledge and skills required for competent practice in these specialties. Your expertise will help shape the exams that certify the next generation of family and geriatric medicine practitioners.

We welcome volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and experiences within these fields. Your contribution will not only enhance the quality of our exams but also provide you with valuable professional development and networking opportunities.

AOA item writers will obtain online training in the best practices of high-stakes exam content development, have access to an item writing mentor, and earn CME for their engagement in a professional activity.  Your time and expertise will contribute to the future certification of your physician peers. This activity is an excellent way to give back to the osteopathic community.

Qualifications:

  • Active board certification (Primary Family Medicine)
  • Family Medicine certification expiration must be at least 3 years from the item writing activity
  • Active practice relating to Family Medicine or Geriatric Medicine

Item development will be completed remotely over 6 months via assignments constructed by the examination committee.

If you are interested in making a meaningful impact on the certification process and supporting your colleagues, we encourage you to volunteer. Please respond with your interest and include your CV and any potential conflicts of interest by Friday, July 26, 2024, to [email protected].
