Component 2: Lifelong Learning/Continuing Medical Education

Overview

Component 2 of the Osteopathic Continuous Certification process requires recertifying physicians to pursue lifelong learning through continuing medical education.

To complete component 2 requirements in the primary specialties of Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology/Laboratory Medicine, diplomates must complete 120 CME credits, including 50 specialty credits, during each three-year AOA CME Cycle. You can view your status for all OCC components, including component 2, by logging in to the AOA Physician Portal.

To complete component 2 requirements in the subspecialty of Forensic Pathology, diplomates must also complete 15 credits in Forensic Pathology CME per CME cycle.

Diplomates must also complete 15 credits each CME cycle in self-assessment modules or activities.
