Component 4: Practice Performance Assessment & Improvement

Overview

Under Component 4 of the OCC process for the specialty of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine, physicians must complete required Practice Performance Assessment modules and/or Quality Improvement (QI) activity attestations every three years. The module(s) must be completed prior to the expiration of a physician’s certification.

Component 4 can be satisfied by completing any of the following:

A Physician’s Practical Guide to Culturally Competent Care

Requirement for OCC: Complete one theme for a total of 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Submit your certificate for completion to aobnmm@osteopathic.org. You’ll receive an email saying you’ve met the OCC Component 4 requirement for the current CME cycle.

NBOME: Medication Safety Communication Osteopathic Performance Assessment and Improvement Module (OPAIM)
Fee: $200
Registration: First, create an account on the NBOME Learning Center website. Then, log into your account and select the Medication Safety Communication OPAIM.
Requirement for OCC: This module will take at least 31 days to complete. Upon completion, you will have earned 20 AOA Category 1-B CME credits. You do not need to submit a certificate of completion. The AOBNMM will notify you via email once you’ve completed the requirement successfully.

Quality Improvement (QI) Activity Attestation
The Quality Improvement (QI) activity attestation can be submitted for Component 4 credit using the online submission form in the AOA Physician Portal.
