Component 2: Lifelong Learning/Continuing Medical Education
Overview
Component 2 of the Osteopathic Continuous Certification process requires recertifying physicians to pursue lifelong learning through continuing medical education.
CME Requirements
Pediatric Specialty Component 2 requirements for the OCC Cyle Ending Dec. 31, 2024:
- Total 60 CME credits during each three-year AOA CME cycle
- 15 credits must be AOA Category 1-A
- 45 CME (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B)
- View your status for all OCC components via the AOA Physician Portal
Non-timed limited Diplomates (those who received board certification prior to 1995):
- 120 CME credits during each three-year AOA CME cycle
- 30 credits must be AOA Category 1-A
- 90 CME (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B)

Beginning 2025-27: OCC Cycle CME requirement changes
Pediatric Board time limited Diplomates:
- Total 60 CME credits during each three-year AOA CME cycle
- 15 credits must be AOA Category 1-A
- 15 credits must be Pediatric Specialty Specific AOA Category 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B
- 30 CME (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B)
- View your status for all OCC components via the AOA Physician Portal
Non-timed limited diplomates (those who received board certification prior to 1995)
- 120 CME credits during each three-year AOA CME cycle

POMT Modules
POMT Modules are no longer a requirement for OCC. The American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians (ACOP) will soon be offering POMT Modules. Check back for available dates.
