Timeline

The American Osteopathic Board of Radiology administers primary certification exams, subspecialty certification exams and Osteopathic Continuous Certification requirements. The following stages represent key milestones in the process to obtain subspecialty board certification in Neuroradiology.

Certification Exam

1. In order to take the Neuroradiology Subspecialty Certification Exam, applicants must hold primary AOBR certification in Diagnostic Radiology and have completed a one year, AOA-recognized or ACGME-accredited fellowship program in neuroradiology.

2. The Neuroradiology Subspecialty Certification Exam is offered once per year. The examination is typically offered in the fall.

Become Board Certified

3. Upon successful completion of all exam components, the AOBR will recommend osteopathic board certification to the AOA.

4. You will receive a letter from the AOA via email once certification has been approved.

5. You are now board certified. You will receive your certificate in the mail within 10-12 weeks of notification of approval.

Osteopathic Continuous Certification

6. Maintain active licensure.

7. Participate in lifelong learning and continuing medical education.

8. Complete the cognitive assessment.

9. Complete the practice performance assessment.
