Initial Certification Grant Opportunity for Residents
To relieve some of the financial burden for residents entering the field, the ACOFP Foundation is pleased to announce that grants are available for up to $1,400 for American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) exam fees and travel expenses to residents who do not have complete funding support from their program. Partial grants may be awarded.
To be eligible, residents must:
- Be planning to sit for the both the AOBFP initial written and practical exams.
- Be an ACOFP resident member (free to join).
Grants will be awarded after both exams are taken and proof of payment, a travel expense form and W9 form have been submitted. Applications open in July of each year and are due Feb. 28 of the following year. While applications may be considered on a rolling basis, applicants are encouraged to submit early.
Inservice (ISE) Support
The ACOFP Foundation and ACOFP have joined together to create a program to support residents by providing an opportunity for first- and second-year Family Medicine (FM) residents to pursue the osteopathic pathway to Family Medicine Board Certification through the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) free of charge.
OMT Certification Grant for Practicing Physicians
This grant supports the ongoing participation of osteopathic family medicine residents in the AOBFP Initial Certification Exam by paying the examination fee for those taking the OMT practical portion of the exam.
